The right hook of my Vaio FS has been broken !!

Hi Man ..

I've been using this baby Vaio FS for few weeks, I take care of it very good.

When I close the screen, I do it carefully like everytime I do, but yesterday afternoon, the hook has been broken itself fron normal closing (no force), I don't know why, you can see the photo from the link under

Guys, what can i do? I've just contacted the Sony support division and he asked me if I can send the photo for investigation, so I sent it yesterday

I would like to know what they will do? Will they fix it for me? or even give me a new one of FS ? which one is more possibile?

Same advice I would give everyone. If you have not been forceful or heavy handed with this equipment then it is poor manufacturing and you should either:

1. Get it repaired for free
2. Get the unit replaced for free
3. Get a full refund of your money

There is no excuse for poor workmanship and Sony's build quality is becoming more questionable. Stand up for yourself and demand your rights if you start to get fobbed off either by your dealer or by Sony.

So, I purchased it from a dealer called FNAC, in Italy .. How can I do ? Do I need to send it back via this FNAC or need to be patient and wait for the response from Sony before ??

Also he has just asked me to send them a photo of broken hook..

right hook ... yes m8 i got it broken too..

while i was cleaning the screen softly, i suddenly touched the right hook and it is now broken...

i dont have the chance to replace or send the laptop back since i m living in cyprus and bought it from UK..the rhooks of FS series are so softly attached...

im so unlucky 😞

Mine broke too, and i was opening it noramlly. There was another thread on this somewhere. It seems to be a very common defect on FS series. Like I said in the last thread the left hooks strong enough to shut it, so I'm not bothered. But Sony should look into this, and you are entitled to have it repaired, especially as this problem is becoming so frequent.
