Hi,
I'm having some trouble with the wireless network connection on my Vaio VPCF23P1E. Each time I use my computer I experience one of two different problems with the wifi connection, without apparent reason. Either I just loose Internet connection while it seems I'm still connected to the wireless network. Or, less frequently, I loose all wifi connection. I sometimes get an error message pertaining to the Atheros adapter. Usually i can reconnect to the Internet by disconnecting from the network and reconnecting again (which is quite tedious when I have to do it for the umteentht time), but more rarely the computer can't even detect any networks, and I have to restart the whole computer.
I've checked for new drivers for the Atheros wireless network adapter, but they are apparently up-to-date. I'm beginning to think that there might be some kind of hardware malfunction, due to the erratic nature of the problem. Also, I've tried looking for solutions here on the forums and elsewhere, but to no awail. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hi,
I have been having similar problems with my VIAO VGN TZ11VN - it apparently connects to the internet both on home broadband and mobile but cannot load a web page at all. My local PC Clinic could not find any obvious problem and I am uncertain as to whether to pay what could be a hefty fee to persue it further as the laptop is now almost 6 years old.
I have done a complete restore of factory settings and am now struggling to get updates going as there are so many of them! I have already spent over 24 hours on it but if everything will work again it will be worthwhile. I will give it a reasonable amount of time to see whether any other problems arise.
You need to roll back your network adapter driver to the one that used to work.
right click on MY COMPUTER - click on MANAGE - click DEVICE MANAGER - click + next to NETWORK ADAPTER -
you should see an adapter with ann error indication
double click on the network adapter line
click on DRIVER - click on "roll back driver" and OK

After a restore to factory settings there will be no driver available for a roll back.
