I've got a Sony Vaio GRT 815m which used to run Flight Sim 2004 like a dream. It also used to score about 10 000 on 3dmark 2001.
Anyway, I just returned to Flightsim after a longish gap of several months and noticed it running really slow (virtually unplayable) I have defragged, have about 10GB free on each drive partition and have used Enditall to shut down all running programmes. I also checked performance using 3dMArk 2001 and it just scored 3296!!!!!
Any idea what the problem is. The laptop did just doa cut out (presumably thermal) after I ran FS2004 for a few mins.
Would appreciate advice on what may be the cause and what to do.
Thanks,
Speedbird
This is probably due to you fans/vents being blocked.
The CPU has to go to a lower frequency and the system runs slow, hence a low score.
Thanks for speedy reply but PC is sitting on a hard surface so should be OK. Is there a way of telling if it has cut speed?
Thanks,
Speedbird
Hi,
Yes usually Sandra can report it to you.
It seems to be a common occurance with this model for it to get clogged up.
