Vaio AR21M:S-Video connection in

Any idea how I could use the S-Video input in the Vaio VGN AR21M NOTEBOOK to record from a device (DVD PLAYER/VCR) that dosn't have a set top box and require the IR STUFF in MCE?

MCE only allows s-video input with a set top box. any other way to record through s-video from a device?
Appreciate you help.

Hi Ripley,

We have this question quite often but no-one has actually given a satisfactory solution. Perhaps someone actually using MCE to record analogue video could contribute here.

I think you must get MCE to release control of the TV Tuner by ending the ehRec.exe process.

From memory, success in the past has come from a combination of: -

Before you open your video capturing software make sure that you have completed the Media Center setup screens and then check the following:
Set the TV Tuner to receive Analogue Channels.
Close the Media Center software.
Press CTRL+ ALT+ DEL, click the Processes button, select ehRec.exe from the list of items (if it is listed).
With ehRec selected, click End Process.
Close the window. You can now use your capturing software.

Has anyone had success????

Thanks, that released the capture card (no using MCE for TV, I guess). They don't make it easy, do they!

Again, your help was much appreciated.

You are right - analogue capture was not high on the list when MCE was designed.

You will find your TV card will work again on reboot - you just have to release it from MCE each time you want to import analogue video.
