VAIO FE21M first imporesion

I have it for 3 days and I already miss my previous VAIO FS740W (US version). Well the speed is OK, design so so, keyboard so so (I'd liked the previous more). The main critics go to illumination, brightness setup problem and wireless transfer speed.
The screen is great as I would expect from Sony but the illumination is one of the worse I saw in notebooks and realy not up to Sony level. Shame on you SONY. When the computer boots the illumination is on the maximum and I can see at least 30 shadows all over the screen especially on the bottom. This can not be lovered nowere. When in Windows I can still notice some shadows in the corners and at the bottom. Not good. Tryed to resolve the issue with lowering the brightness on half (on max is to high anyway) but the problem now is that the setting is not memorized and whenever I boot again into the system or when I change some system settings or even switch the user, the brightness goes to maximum regardless of the settings. Not good again.
And now the wireless transfer speed. I had FE21M and old FS740W side by side, I downloaded couple of files from the internet many times on both at the ssame time and the speed of FS740 is always at least double of the FE21M sometimes even 10x faster. I downloaded the new Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 driver version 10.5.1.57 but without big difference.
I'd try to fix this issues which really bother me in the next couple of days. Hope I'll make it otherwise I'll sell it and by something else. Does anybody have similar problems or any good solution?

maximus5,

You must have bought a really special one, because I'd rather say the illumination on a fe-21m is somre than enough. At full rate, it's almost burning the eyes!
Normally it should store your illumination settings, depending on your power management. If your running on batteries, the illumination gets decreased automatically. But you can force it.

Concerning the wireless speed, you're right, it could be faster. Any new ideas?

Best,
