Hi there. My father has a Vaio PCG-FX802 and wants to get onto broadband rather than his current dial-up. Does anyone have any advice on what he would need to do to adapt his Vaio so that he can use broadband, please? Thanks
Hi TinaEC and welcome.
Does the house have broadband already or not?
The FX802 has an ethernet port which can connect direct to an ASDL Modem Router (which will usually be provided by the broadband provider).
If he wants to connect wirelessly, he will need a PC Card WiFi adapter. Something like this: -

Thank you very much for your help with this. I will pass the info on to my dad
Sony VAIO PCG-FX802 - 14.1" - Athlon XP 1500+ - Win XP Home - 256 MB RAM - 30 GB HDD
I want to be honest with you. This is a 2004 model with to Wireless card built in. With the looks of the Memory at 256MB, your dad won't be able to fully enjoy broadband, since this laptop would be slow even when browsing todays websites. I would advice to buy a new one.
