Vaio refresh option

My Sony Vaio laptop wasn't working properly so I clicked the option for refreshing Vaio. It stated that it would not affect any of my files and they are all here now, but... Now I can't access my hard drive nor Windows update. I can't install new programs. Has this option entirely deleted Windows 8 that was installed on my computer or is there something I can do to return everything to factory settings?

Hi Anovik and welcome.

Never use Microsoft's Refresh Windows option (even if it is in Vaio Care) - it should have a health warning on it!

You don't tell us your Vaio model but I assume it was bought with Windows 8 installed. To return to factory settings: -

Press the ASSIST button with the Vaio fully turned OFF.

Vaio Care | Rescue Mode window will open

Choose the Recovery and Maintenance option and follow the on-screen instructions for a full recovery to factory settings.
