Vaio VGN-FS 315H and VAIO Power Management - Windows Vista

Hi everybody,

i've windows vista and works perfectly but I have 2 problems

1) with ACPI lid that i've fixed but i'm still waiting a solution from Ms o Sony

2)with VAIO Power Management I think..

In windows xp when I disconnected the Ac adapter (energy)the brightness turned down but now in windows vista this don't happen, why?
I think that if the brightness controll dosen't work maybe also cup voltage and other dosent' work???

Help

sorry for my english

Hi,

I have VGN-FE21S, and i will answer your questions in reverse order.

1) I also noticed with Sony power profile, the screen did not dim when removing AC power, but i think this is just configuration of Sony power profile, if i use the built in Vista 'Balanced' profile, screen goes to half brightness as soon as i unplug AC, and back to full brightness when i plug AC in again.

2) There is a BIOS version R0200J3 (available for FE4x series) i read on another forum this can be used on other FE models and fixes the ACPI Lid problems. I just tried this and it installs fine on my FE21 and does indeed fix the ACPI Lid problems.

Also since installing i notice that when i hover over power icon in task bar, i can now see 'Fully charged (100%)' before i always see 'Pluged in, charging (100%)' and when i see this i always worry battery will be overcharged.

It's up to you if you want to try BIOS R0200J3, you can get it from the FE41 support pages...

edit: i read R0200J3 breaks XP, but i dont know, caus i only have Vista on my laptop

I've tried to upgrade my bios with FS4 & FS5 series but the program says that my notebook isn't compatible...

I've to say about this problem on my laptop to Sony or you think that Sony is already working on this?

Sorry i misread your model as FE31, not FS 315, i apologize for this mistake.

But the fact there are newer BIOS's coming for some models, i think Sony is already working on this problem, we just have to wait for correct BIOS
