Hello!
I just got used VGN-FZ21M laptop which features geforce 8400m, the laptop is 2nd hand one but I didn't know the problem they have with the graphics chip. The problem is that whenever I try to run any game even a flash player the graphic driver crashes. I even went to the bother of taking the whole laptop apart last night just to clean the heatsink and to put new cpu compound paste which broad laptop to cooler state. I clearly know now that the problem is the software I rang the helpline about it and they said that yes there is a issue with those laptops but as long as I get the image on the screen it's alright. I get proper resolution 1280x800 and I switched OS to the vista home premium as the guy in call centre suggested. I got the drivers and patches from official website but there seem to still be the same problem as whenever any hardware acceleration is required (flash player or games) the driver crashes or blue screen comes up. I tried to google this thing up but the only answer I get is people complaining about broken chip. The graphics card shows up in the device manager and it seems to be ok for windows but whenever any kind of actual graphics needs to be generated such as for games the driver crashes. any kind of guide would be helpful in this case. I wanted to give it as a present for my gf so she can have a college laptop that she wouldnt have to be careful not to scratch as it is old but I wanted her to be able to play some mini games and stuff like that on it.
I am running windows vista home premium 32bit SP2
3.00GB ram
Graphichs card driver version 7.15.11.6760 driver date 2008-01-11
Thank you
