VAIO VGN-NR38E DVD door wont open or play

VAIO VGN-NR38E DVD door wont open or play. The door will open with a pin but does not recognise any disk. Can anyone please help?

If you look in Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM Drives does it show any errors or does it say the device is working normally?

The message in Device Manager says, "This device is working properly"

It is beginning to sound like the drive may be faulty.  Are you close to any of Sony's Service Partners?  You will find a full list for the UK here: -
