Vaio VGN-S5XP - High Definition Audio Driver

Good morning/afternoon all,

Help again, is needed. I'm sure this is a simple process of applying a driver to the device but I have applied all available drivers to this device but it still fails to work.

In my device manager the High Definiton Audio Control Device needs a driver applying - can anyone help me please? I'm running Windows XP 32-bit, SP3.

Any advice very welcome.

Thanks and have a great day.

MArtin

Hi Martin,

The driver is contained in the Original Drivers package.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-S5XP_B/updates

Download the Preinstalled Drivers (Windows XP) > Original Drivers package.

The Audio driver and the UAA HD Audio Driver are part of the zip folder.

Hi Martin,

I assume that you hve installed a retail copy of Windows XP?

If this is is the case you need to insall the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver for Microsoft Windows after Windows XP setup

1. You must first install the Microsoft's KB835221 hotfix

2. Install the audio driver for your sound device

The hotfix can be found here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/835221

Hi Rich, this is great news, thank you. I have downloaded the FIX and applied that but the issue I have is that I cannot find the driver for this Audio device on the Sony website.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance, I really do appreciate the effort.

Thank you Rich for the advice, but I have already done this. I downloaded the drivers you mention and within the Zip file there are 12 folders....10 folder called Utils Installer 1 to 10 and then a Wireless LAN Starter and Wireless Switch Setting Util folder - I have installed ervything from all of these folders but still this device won't install.

My bald spot is getting bigger where I'm pulling my hair out

Any further ideas? Thank you again for your assistance.

Hi Martin,

From what you describe you have downloaded the Original Utility package NOT the Original Drivers package which has only 11 foldwers under Drivers - this includes the Audio Driver.

Ah ha, got it. The drivers you mention were under the Original Driver (without Bluetooth) section....downloaded and installed, thank you so much, it was driving me crazy.

All the best
