Vaio VPCF11S1E Overheating and noise problems

I've seen many posts on this and decided to make my own to see what kind of response I would get.

My Vaio runs from the start of bootup, like its trying to run some kind of game on ultra graphics. The CPU (While just on mozilla firefox at this moment) is running at 27% and the amount of RAM used at this moment is 1.75GB. Now im not any kind of computer expert but even a laptop that costs maybe a couple of hundred pounds with maybe an I3 would not even be running at the rate that my Laptop is running at with just mozilla firefox running.

I also have an issue that randomly my Laptop will all of a sudden shutdown with no warning, Just a black screen then poof its turned off.

I have also seen a post somewhere about a faulty batch of this laptop with overheating problems....Anyone know if there is any kind of warranty covering that?

Does anyone have any idea how I could fix this myself or is this something I should bring up with sony?

Also how long does a normal warranty last?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

In that case, for the overheating problem, and assuming your notebook is out of warranty, I suggest you clean the fan. The following link will help.

http://www.monteverde.org/images/Sony_Vaio_F11/Vaio_F_Series_Keyboard_Replacement_Guide.htm

If you don't feel comfortable carrying this out youself you could contact one of the Sony Service Partners or a local competent repairer.

If still in warranty then contact Support.

Hi Dan,

There is a known problem with the internal temperature management system with some VPCF11 models. Follow this link and then type 'overheating' in the search field, then under Hot News click 'Important notification for the Sony Vaio F11 and CW2 series.

Okay so Apparently my Vaio is not one of the affected series. Any ideas on how I should proceed?
