Hi ev1, just looking to pick some brains when it comes to upgrading the graphics card on the Vaio VGC-LV1S. Im sure I seen somewhere before that the graphics card was non-upgradeable but I need to change the one in mine ideally for something a little more compatible with an OS Im trying to put on to it. Any one have any ideas as to wether it can be upgraded and what kind of card to go for if it is.
Many thanks in advance
Steven
Hi Steven,
Bad News! Your NVIDIA® GeForce® 9300M GS GPU is a laptop chip - not a graphics card.
It is not upgradable as it is part of the motherboard and soldered in. A replacement would cost much more than a new Vaio.
hi Blencogo.
oh no thats not good, so next question is, apparently the graphics chip is controlled by a seperate graphix controller which could be the root of my problem, do you know if this is ryt or not. Also do u know why the bios has many of the standard features unavailable ie controlling ahci and sata mode etc. Surely this should be accessible.
Again many thanks especially for your speedy reply
