Hi all, my poor little Vaio is running very hot, in fact so hot I can't hold my hand next to the vent area, I tried changing performance to balanced but its still the same. the fan seems to be working all the time. I also decided to try and dismantle to check for a fur ball but after removing a ton of screws nothing would budge it seems the whole base is one piece.
Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance
Hi, I had the same problem with my A417M and tried everything including restoring. After all it was blocked cooler! Basically fan drags dust etc and that gets stuck inside on cooler and eventually almost no air can get through. Is your CPU running full speed? My was going down by 1GHz... I "went in" and cleaned it and it was like new again. I do it every now and then when my vaio gets loud again...
I hope this helps...:smileywink:
Thanks Masterix, I'm kind of guessing then I have dust blocking my cooling. What bothers me is how to safely remove the back of my Vaio to access the fan, it seems the base is constructed of a complete shell?
Anyone advise how to dismantle?
Thanks
As with most Vaios, the internal components are accessed by removing the keyboard and palmrest.
If you would like to send me an email address by PM, I will send you the disassembly instructions in PDF format.
My trusty Vaio seems to be doing its regular thing off getting hotter and hotter and I am keen to pull it apart and get it some internal TLC...!
If anybody could let me know the best way of dismantling the old beast (Blencogo?!) then it would be hugely appreciated.
All the best...
Hi andbeagl,
Which Vaio model do you have?
Rich
It's VGN-AW31M and I've had it a few years now and I can just imagine the 'fur' that has built up inside...!!! Many laptops seem to have cooling issues as the vents are not really in the best place to draw in the air needed to keep things cool...! Anyhow, I need to get stuck in...
Hi andbeagl,
Please let me have your email address by PM and I will try to help...
