Hi,
I am considering RAM upgrade for my Sony vaio VGN FW11E,
The chipset of this laptop is Intel PM45 Express and according to the chipset specification it supports 8GB RAM, However specification of this laptop on sony website mentions 4GB as the maximum supported RAM.
Given I install 64 bit operating systems would 8GB be supported for this laptop ???
Does anyone have any idea if sony puts some limitations on the BIOS ? to limit ram ? if they apply such limits, why they apply even if the underlying chipset supports more RAM.
Please advise, I really want to upgrade to 8GB if possible,
Thanks,
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed,
As you say Sony state that your Vaio only supports 4GB RAM & also Crucial.com also state that 4GB is the maximum that your Vaio supports..
Therefore I wouldn't recommend you install over the 4GB..
