Hi Everybody...
I own a VGN-FZ21S and I want to upgrade it to Windows 7 (x86) and I want to know where can I find or download the drivers for this model and what setps should I follow to do the upgrade.
I'm new in the forum and I wan to ask if there is any way to search thorugh the forum for specific topics, I haven't found any way and I won't look through all the pages looking for similar posts or threads that are of my interest.
Thanks.
Good luck with this the forum seems a little slow on answers for my taste
I have a VGC-LN1M (all in 1 desktop) that I am considering doing the same with but that depends if i can get the screen working again
If you don't have any information on your PC (back up all your data) then you might risk a fresh install with W7 and then track down each problem (dvd/blueray) (wireless) problems you might get after the install.
Hi millaguilondon,
If you are using the original Sony Vista operating system I suggest that you purchase an UPGRADE version and carry out an 'in place' upgrade which does not format your disc. This means you retain all your current software, drivers, data and settings.
I believe an upgrade works OK on your model and you may only have to obtain an updated nVidia graphics driver and possibly reinstall your pointing device driver.
In addition there are some dedicated Win7 drivers if you need them which you can download here: -

The search function has been broken for some time but this forum is getting an upgrade shortly which we all hope will include a searchbar. Until then the only way to search is by using Google - see here: -

Good Luck
Thanks for the information...
I have been looking in the Sony Vaio support and other notebook forums and there is a lot of scattered information on how to do this upgrade depending if I want an update install or a clean install of the OS, actually I'm considering first doing a Update install and see how the laptop works, if everything seems to work fine I'd be happy, otherwise I'll perform the clean install which seems a bit tricky for this model.
I will inform you how it goes..
Hi everybody
I just performed a clean install of Windows 7 Professional (x32) on my FZ21S
So far everything seems to work properly.
Later I'll post the installations steps that I followed.
Hi Everybody
As I told you I have installed Windows 7 (x32) on my Vaio FZ21S and so far everything goes without problem.
These are the steps I followed to perform a clean installation of W7 and drivers
Please notice that the drivers are not available in only one site.
First I recommend to download the drivers and utilites packages (Originally Installed) for Windows Vista, available here

I followed this guide, which is very useful, though some steps didn't work for me quite well
