My daughter's Vaio's screen is in meltdown. When we switch it on it is just a load of lines and squiggles. Any suggestions?

Hi,
the cause could be any number of things, screen, GPU, cabling, etc..:smileysad:
Maybe worth contacting one of Sony's authorised repairers.
Tto find contact details for Sony Vaio support..
Open Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support
Under Log-in option 1: Enter your vaio models serial number, which you should find on the bottom of your Vaio.
Then click Log-In
Once logged select Get In Touch
Then Click on the Out of Warranty tab to locate the nearest location.
Hi mamagrancevola,
welcome to Questions & Answers..
Try connecting your Vaio to an external monitor, do you still have the same problem.?
Do you get the same problem when in safe mode.?
To enter safe mode restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F8 key repeatedly..
Do you get the same problem in the BIOS.?
To enter the BIOS restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F2 key repeatedly..
To exit the BIOS press F9 to reset the BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit..
Unfortunately I don't have an external screen. I can't do any of the other suggestions, as the screen doesn't get as far as any logo. It is shot as soon as it is switched on.
Thanks anyhow. Anybody else had the same problem?
