Hi Robert,
The Vaio Support website has been migrated since that post was made.
Try the new link here: -
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-Z5/updates
The Stamina/Speed switching requires the Sony Graphics Drivers to be installed. You will need to install the nVidia Driver 187.35 which you will find under the Windows 7 Updates Tab. Install in Speed Mode.
For the SD Card slot, you need to install the Memory Card Drivers - there are 3 in the Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities Tab.

There is no dedicated Windows 7 driver, so I would install the original Vista drivers for the SD and Memory Card slots.
Install the 3 Ricoh drivers on this page: -

I assume you are running 32-bit?

Dear all,
I'm havinghe same problem. I also have a VGNZ31XN laptop and installed Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit). But now there are several thing that don't work anymore :s Among which the SD card slot. I can't even install the Vista drivers?
Does anyone have the same problem and found a solution yet?
Thanks for sharing!
Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
If you have changed to a 64-bit system then you need to find 64-bit drivers for everything that Windows 7 cannot supply. The 32-bit drivers from the download site for your model will not work. Look in Device Manager and see how many devices have a yellow "!" to show that the driver is not installed correctly.
I suggest you try the drivers from the Vaio VGN-Z5 Series as this model was sold with Windows 7 64-bit installed.
Go here and try installing the three 64-bit Memory Card Drivers: -

This link does not seem to work anymore?
Is there somewhere else I can get the original software and drivers for a Vaio VGN-Z5? (I don't have the recovery centre, and also the stamina/speed control and SD Memory Card slot do not work.)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Robert

Thank you.
I don't suppose there is any quick way to download all the drivers, rather than one at a time? I suspect they all need installing!

'Fraid not.
On older models you could download them as 2 .zip files - Drivers & Utilities - but this seems to have been changed to individual files for more recent Windows 7 models.
