hey, first of all, let's start with the basics
i got one sony vaio vpcz11x9e, nvidia geforce gt 330m video card and i've just bought the game "need for speed - the run"
the problem is the following: it needs one specific video driver, 285.something.
i got 188.something else, which is the LATEST driver, according to all official sony vaio websites
i tried downloading the 285 driver from nvidia's website, but i can't install it, since i should contact any sony official websites for any driver updates and download/install them from there. the problem is that there aren't any updates on any official sony websites
so, what's next? should i wait for 2 more years for sony to update the video drivers on their websites?
the latest driver is from the spring of 2010, if i remember correctly....
Solved! Go to Solution.
The problem is that your Z-Series has a hybrid graphics driver which facilitates the switching from Speed Mode to Stamina Mode. You can try speaking to Vaio Support to see if a new release is planned but I would not hold your breath.
There is only one solution I know of. At your own risk, have a look at this link: -

It does give a method of installing Version 258.49 but this involves modifying the existing drivers so they will install.
I cannot guarantee this works as I have not tried it - so it would be at your own risk!!

thanks, but i'd rather not mess with the 'official' drivers, i've ruined 2 laptops before because of the same thing
regarding speaking with vaio support, i will try that in the morning. too bad i have to wait, but ah well
by the way, 258.49 is pretty old. i would've needed 285.62, if i'm not mistaken
anyway, thanks again!!
