Hi JPH160 and welcome to Club Vaio.
The Marvell Libertas 802.11b/g drivers are meant to be part of the Vista Inbox and install automatically. Does the card show as 'working correctly' in Device Manager.
I have not heard of anyone else with this specific problem - there have been some intermittent wireless connection issues with Vista but I don't recall a total failure to detect networks. I suppose your router is vista compliant and you have connected the WLAN ariel securely?
For some reason Vista Ultimate keeps throwing up problems with hardware compatibility. Did you carry out a clean install or an upgrade from MCE?
Hi thanks for the reply
i tried an upgrade and a clean install in both cases the wireless card shows as working and finds the network then after a reboot fails to do so
shows as working in device manager but if you disable it it cant renable until a reboot
I have also now lost sounds on dvds through hdmi although optical is ok
i think i will have to go back to mce 2005
is home premium vista any better for problems?

I thought I'd hijack this a little.
I've done a clean install of Vista 32-bit Premium on my XL100, and the wireless isn't playing ball. It's detected in Vista, but I get a "code 10" cannot start problem in device manager. Nothing I seem to do fixes this. No sign of any drivers updates (or at least none that I can find!).
Thankfully, I'm connected at gigabit ethernet speeds, so I don't need to rely on the piece of $%&* marvell card that Sony fitted to the XL100
