hi i have a sony vaio netbook pcg-181p n50 with all accessories,IE dvd/port replicator/floppy/and all leads.
it has windows xp on at the mo but i need to know what this netbook was shipped with,trying to put back to
stock,

PCG-181P you have quoted is the chassis number which would make it difficult to find information as this is NOT the actual model number..
The correct model number can be found just below the VAIO's display, see image below..
Once you've loacted the model number let us know and we'll point in the direction of the support page which should list your model specifications..

is it possible to run android on this machine like other netbooks as long as the cpu is detected,which is

It looks to me like a Sony Asia Pacific model PCG-C1MT which was released with Windows XP installed.
Only XP seems to be supported on the Sony Asia Pacific website here: -
