I have vaio VGN-FE21M with win media center When I start the notebook , after the vaio log on icon the screen remeins black with a - in the left uper corner of the screen windows doesn't start what can I do?
Try starting in ‘Safe Mode’ – tap F8 at boot to access this option. If this works then there may be a driver or hardware conflict.
If you are unable to boot in ‘Safe Mode’ then I suggest a system recovery using either your CD/DVD media or the HDDR (tap F10 at boot to access this). Be aware that a system recovery will format the C drive – I trust that you have a data backup?
