windows vista on VGN-A115B Small problem

Hi i am havin a small problem with the laptop! after installing vista premium Fresh install, i can no longer alter the brightness at all. buttons along the top do not work either, VOL+/- Brightness or magnify button all do not work, although i can alter the vol and magnifier in other settings in Control panel. But the opening of the CD/DVD rom draw button now does not function? i can only open using the tiny reset button. other than that all is good, but the brightness is very annoying as its on its lowest setting, hardly useable in the day nothing i can find in control panel can alter the brightness either.
Please Help. Tony

Hi lack300 and welcome to Club Vaio.

The functions you mention are all part of the Sony Preinstalled Utilities which will need to be reinstalled after a fresh installation of Vista.

Unfortunately, these are not yet available for your A-Series and it is unlikely that your Vaio will work properly without them.

You could try downloading the Preinstalled XP software for your model which may fix some of the issues.

Download the Sony Preinstalled Utilities from VAIO-LINK and expand the download into a temporary folder.

For the function keys to work you will need to install some of the Utilities in the correct order:

1 Sony Utilities (installer folder 1)
2 Sony Shared Library (installer folder 2)
3 Vaio Event Service (installer folder ?)

And then re-boot your Vaio - you may have to repeat the process!

May or may not work with Vista!!!!

Good News - glad everything is working.

Unfortunately, it seems to be pot luck - some Vaios work OK and some don't.

You are one of the lucky ones!!!!!!!!!
