WRITE PROTECTED BIOS???

hi guys

im attempting to flash my bios. but it flags up "error write protected bios"....any help.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but messing with the BIOS in ways not intended by the manufacturer is very likely to brick your mainboard. It's yours, so that is up to you, just making sure you know.

If you are trying to remove a set/forgotten BIOS password - contact the VAIO support - they'll sort it for you.

If you are trying to add any functionality to the BIOS which isn't there to begin with, the question is what you are trying to achieve - maybe messing with the BIOS isn't necessary for it.

thx for the advice.

im well aware of the dangers. i didt say i was messing with the bios??,..

i want to update my bios. ie flash.

but when i run bios exe i downloaded from sony it flags up the above error.

all i want to know if anybody knows why im getting that error.......nothing else.

Ok, that's something entirely different. =]

Check which BIOS version you have now, by pressing F2 when the VAIO logo is shown during boot.

You might have the bios already, maybe via VAIO update.

You might have picked a different model when entering the support site.

If my guesses above are wrong, please post which BIOS version you have installed and which download you are trying to use.

Ok, obviously it shouldn't give you that message then. I cannot say on the spot why it does.

According to the description of the BIOS upgrade, the only thing it does is add VT support.

Is that what you are after?

well may be i should has read more carefully because my cpu is not "VT-compatible CPU"...lol

so i dont really need the update

i would still like to no why its giving me that error

iv spent a long time on google hunting for a fix

a lot of people have posted asking for help with the same error

but with no fix
