MX4 Frustration

Just got my new MX4 headphones.  Can connect with Tablet & Phone.

Will not connect and play on my laptop or my desk top. with windows 10.

Have deleted all pairings on my devices so a clean start.

MX4 will not pair on my laptop or desk top.

my AKG phones pair up and play perfectly with no problems. Thinking of returning MX4.

its getting to be a regular thing with Sony these days.

Could anyone help a frustrated soon to be an ex Sony fan

Hello @Macrep,

 

I assume you are referring to the Xm4 not the "MX4" headphones, is that correct?

 

If they won't pair with your desktop computer, you may not have a suitable bluetooth driver onboard.

In that case you can purchase a small USB dongle which is up to the latest standards and pair your headphones that way.

Thanks for the reply.  If that is the case then there going back.

Im not spending £350.00 for allegedly the best, only for me to have spend even more to get them to work.

When the AKG Y50BT work perfectly well.

Unless anyone else has another solution.

Hi sorry to hear of your frustration.

 

Have you installed the Sony Headphone Connect app onto your phone/tablet?  If not then I suggest that you do so Apple and Android version are available to download.

 

Once you have the app installed, open it and follow the instructions displayed. You will probably be prompted to update the headphone software, there is an update for Bluetooth connectivity.

Hi David thanks for that.

Yes I had installed the app on my phone , the drivers are the lates,t confirmation shown saying these are the latest.

I can now get them to pair.

But both computers will not connect to them.

Whats so frustrating is that my AKG connect with no problem.

That`s why I think its the headphones.

I have deleted my speakers so the only output device will be these headphones.

Have contacted Sony but no reply as yet.

End of today if not sorted I`m sending them back.

I hope you can get it sorted by Sony soon.

 

I use Apple Macs, both of mine work using bluetooth via Tidal app. I don't have windows computers so I can't test them out for you.

Thanks for your comments.  I have just had my bellyful of Sony.

No response from Sony support apart from an e -mail promising a customer support specialist will contact me soon., 48 hrs and still no contact from them.

Going to return what I had hoped would be a treat for myself.

This will be  the last Sony product I will ever buy.  

Tried every suggestion on line re read the manual, even a local friend who is an IT specialist for his job is stumped, he said I have done everything that he would have done.

My AKG 50 BYT connect first time every time on all my devices.  Cost half the price.

Seems buying what you thought was the best is no guarantee of success.

If it's not too late, could you tell us more about what isn't working compared to the AKG's given that you've mentioned they pair with both PCs now?

Found out on Google that the first recognition of the Sony XM4 device prefixed by the LE on the computer

Is not the one to use.

Holding down the device start button for a further minimum of 20 seconds leads to the device being recognised then the headphones pair up.

There is no mention of what the LE Headphones XM4 is for . That is what`s so frustrating

The AKG come up with one recognition device and pairs instantly.

Your slick looking videos are useless in giving answers for the unexpected hiccups.

They tell you what to do but nothing apart from saying there is a problem when something does not go smoothly.

Its annoying to tell me there is something wrong. I don’t need to be told the ******** obvious.

What`s needed is advice to resolve the situation. Or possible things to try.

Once you get them to work the product is ok.
