Nw-a45 cannot create playlists using mac...

Hi

I love everything about my new sony walkman except I cannot get playlists to work... I have watched 5-6 videos about how to create and transfer them to the walkman but nothing is working. I know how to drag/drop etc but my walkman is not finding the playlist folders I create. I have tried simply pasting songs into the playlist folder, creating another folder inside the playlist folder for the songs, but nothing is coming up when i un-plug my walkman.

Can anyone help?

Hi vickyrebel,

Have you tried to use the Content Transfer software to transfer the content to your Walkman? I could see it's recommended by Sony and there are steps on how to install it (https://bit.ly/2wu1BHV) and how to use it to transfer content from your Mac (https://bit.ly/2GodOSa)

Let us know if it works this way.

Hi

I have used the Content Transfer software to add songs with no problem, BUT I cannot transfer actual playlists... It's really annoying and is making me wonder whether I should return this player and buy one that is more compatible with Apple.

Hi Vickyrebel,

I looked into it further for you and found this link form the manual on Sony's website: https://bit.ly/2Gh5tvu. Under Hints, it says that you can transfer playlists created using Music Center for PC or iTunes to the Walkman. Playlists in the m3u file format can be managed on the Walkman. Could you make sure of the format of the file you're transferring?

Thanks for the advice, but honestly I bought an MP3 player to play FLAC files on, so I was getting a superior listening experience. I think the whole playlist saga is crazy given the times we live in and the amount of people who have a mixture of Apple/Android/PC devices. The content transfer software works perfectly for adding tracks, but it should also enable the transfer of playlists - also why hasn't Sony made a version of its music centre for mac users? As playlists are important to me, I am thinking I will return the Sony MP3 player and try and find one that is more MAC user friendly and no I won't be rushing out to buy an IPOD as aside from my iMac I am not an Apple fan!

Hi vickyrebel,

Sorry for not replying right away but I tried to do it myself and unfortunately, it isn't possible to export full playlists.  Nevertheless, you can always create your playlist on the Walkman directly. You'll find instructions to do that here https://bit.ly/2Gh5tvu.

Thanks,

Batee5

Hi,

The following worked for me:

1) Connect Walkman to Mac

2) Open Sony 'Content Transfer' App

3) Open iTunes

4) Drag Playlist from ITunes to 'Content Transfer' window (ensure you save to preferred location i.e. storage card or device storage)

5) Disconnect Walkman

You should now be able to add/delete tracks to the playlist on the Walkman directly.

Woked for me!!

Best,

Lee

Hi Vicky,

I have also tried all the best solutions possible, visited sites to the same query as yours.

I gave up and for the "love of Music" i have figured out a way that can at least create a playlist as it

is really important for me because my playlist sometimes is based upon my mood.

What I did are as follows ( No Mac or any Music Center) manual works!

1. Created a folder in my desktop computer with all the music that i want to be in it (Ex: Gym Playlist)

2. Attached the Walkman to my computer i dragged the Gym Playlist to my Walkman Music folder

3. I go to Storage System of my Sony Walkman (btw i have NW-A45) and go to the Gym Playlist Folder

4. Open the Gym Playlist Folder and play the songs (number of songs you have saved in the playlist will play).

Just try it out and let me know if it works for you too!!

Regards,

from Dubai

Hi Batte5. The link you attached doesn't actally say how to create a playlist, only how to manage it on the Walkman. I can create and transfer playlists using the Sony Music Centre For PC software but they appear on the device as 'non-editable' i.e. I can't add or delete additional songs directly on the NW-A45. Is this ringing any bells and do you have any clues? Am I missing something obvious? Cheers.
