Hello,
I'm begging you to fix this issue. I really am. The constant notification chimes have made using the headphones with my phone almost impossible. I have a Samsung S9+ and every notification—with my phone on silent and do not disturb—plays. I try to use these for relaxation and reading, can't now due to this issue that has arisen in the last week.
I have talked with several other Android users and have tested it on family with Androids; every phone tested, from Notes to a S10, had this issue. The phones are on DO NOT DISTURB and silent, that means we don't want to hear anything. This issue needs to be resolved, as these headphones are too expensive to be irressponisve and an annoyance. I switched over from Bose because I thought these headphones were better after years of using the QC noise cancelling headphones; apparently, I was wrong to do so, as their headphones never played loud notifications while I tried to study. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. There have been Reddit threads dating to November 2018 talking about this issue. I fear that if this isn't resolved, this will be the last purchase I make from this brand.
I have precisely the same issue, Google Pixel 3 XL
I have uninstalled the Sony headphones app, unpaired my XM3's and rebooted etc. Still getting audible notifications on Vibrate only when using the headphones. However once the XM3's are switched off, audible notifications continue to play out of my phone itself thereafter. only rebooting my handset causes this to stop and Vibrate only/silent to resume.
To the OP and VerboseViking, I am experiencing exactly the same issues - i registered this account today out of sheer frustration, it's starting to drive me nuts.
For the record, I'm using a Huawei P20 Pro running Android 9.
Made an account to post as well. Exact same issue, and it's extremely infuriating making the headphones almost useless.. I really hope Sony picks up on this.. Note 9 if anyone cares.
It's wierd how few people are expecting this, considering the lack of info on the internet.
aving the same issue since the 4.1.1 update. The headphones are unusable now as far as I'm concerned.
I'm considering buying some Jabras instead.
I've had the same problem for a bit more than a week.
Pixel 2 XL
The most infuriating thing - £300 for a pair of headphones that override every possible attempt to stop notifications coming through.
This includes: Do not disturb mode on with vibration only, no notifications allowed from Sony app, button assigned to noise cancelling function, assistant turned off in general and sony headphone settings.
What is the fix? It is literally ruining my user experience and music/audiobooks are untenable with random interruptions.
The only fix that "works" is airplane mode, great for 2019's streaming focus /s
Has anybody got any suggestions?
Running Pixel one on latest android software, have disabled then enabled every bloody app possible - does anybody from Sony tech team even look at these tickets/issues?
Help!
