Hey guys.
I have a problem with my ZX-507 player.
I have a bunch of files, both MQA and FLAC, that fit the definition of Hi-Res but player doesn't recognize them as such. Even the Sony Music Center does recognize them as Hi-Res.
I'm running on latest firmware (released on 21st of January), but no update has helped. I find it very bizarre that the same files are recognized as Hi-Res on PC in Sony software, but the player doesn't read them as such.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? Any ideas how to fix that?
I mean, they play fine, but the cassette UI doesn't change, and this is frustrating... It's not a cheap player, so one can only expect it to work properly.
I've also contacted my local Sony Support, but they are extremely incompetent and were only able to tell me to read the manual, which I did.
Looking forward to your replies.
If the issue does not happen on all files, it might mean that the file is not at 44.1 kHz/16 bit quantization and DAT quality 48 kHz/16 bit quantization or higher as it is automatically read as High-Resolution Audio on the device. If it's labelled as Hi Res, in Sony Music Center then it should be Hi Res on the walkman too.
Check the files properties in the walkman. Looks like more that SMC re-encode the music file into "SD" before transfering.
If it's so, just set the right tranfert properties in the settings of SMC
