Hello,
I have a Walkman S639F which I love. I have the issue that when I turn it off, it isn't really off.
I understand upgrading the firmware from 1.10 to 1.11 may fix this.
I've downloaded the exe file, run it as advised but I get a message saying that I need to connect the Walkman to the PC that is running the upgrade for the upgrade to continue. However it is connected and Windows 8 does recognise it. The process aborts
Anyone else had this problem and were you able to fix it ?
Many Thanks
Hi Charlespw,
Welcome to the community.
Pleas can you try the update procedure here again and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,
Ed
Ed,
Thanks for the reply. Sadly I still get the message that I should connect my device. I've tried connecting it during the upgrade process and connecting it before the upgrade process with the same result. The walkman is recognised in my 'device manager'. I'm able to transfer music without any issues.
My PC runs Windows 8.1 rather than XP or Vista as mentioned in the article.
Hello,
To anyone out there....not sure how much traffic these forums get these days, how long should I expect to wait for a reply from a moderator?
I'm desperate to resolve my problem, because I can't afford to replace a device that is fine apart from the 'not turning off' issue but I'm losing hope (very, very sad face)
Any help much appeciated.
Maybe this is a typical scenario, you post a problem, someone replies with a 'standard' response, this fails and then the post dies.
Ho Hum.
Mods, any chance of a reply ?
Thanks.
Hi Charles,
I'll just see if I can find some answers for you. In the meantime, maybe someone else in the community might be able to help.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi charlespw,
Well, the firmware update is targeting windows XP and Vista as explained here. I guess that's why it's failing to update properly. But, have you tried resetting it to the factory settings? As the update notes don't mention any improvements related to the issue you've described.
Cheers,
