WH-1000XM3 noise when placing hand on touch control

Hi all,

Wondering if someone can help. I have an issue whenever I use the touch control to allow ambient sound on my WH-1000XM3 headphones. I’ve seen plenty of posts about issues with white noise or cracking sounds whenever noise cancelling is turned on but I seem to have the opposite problem.

- no issues with ANC whatsoever. However, whenever I use the touch control and place my hand flat on the side of the headphones to allow ambient sound temporarily, the function works but I also suddenly get a static sound. This gets louder or quieter depending on my environment at that time (so very loud near a busy road etc, quiet at home).

The weird thing is this issue only occurs when I allow ambient sound using the touch control. When I just manually switch noise cancelling off, to allow ambient sound, there are no issues. However, really keen to sort out this issue, as the touch control/ambient sound function is really neat!

Grateful for any suggestions. Already tried restoring to factory settings etc.

Thanks

Hi Zhengyi ,

That sounds very unusual. Is the software of the headphones up to date? I found this link to update the software of the headphones on the Sony website: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-1000xm3/artic...

Cheers,
