Xperia Z tablet failing to find GPS

 I have a SGP311GB Xperia Z tablet and it is failing to find my GPS location despite having taken it outside for over 30 minutes.

It worked in the UK but I am on holiday in France and it has consistently failed to find my GPS location and instead reverts to the one supplied by Wifi which is sveral hundred miles from my actual location.

Ah that's the problem in France, there are areas where you cannot get a GPS signal.  Have you tried it in other locations around you?

That explains it, but why there should be areas of France that cannot see the sky is beyond me. I gave up as I had a satnav in the car and the GPS on my tablet was just a nice to have. Thanks.

It's like TV signals, my gran was near a large town hall building and they couldn't get TNT- as they say, location location location.

That's because the tablets don't have GPS, surprised me to.  Apparently only the LTE/3G versions have and no it's not shown in the specs on sony's site!
