Bluetooth Pairing does not work

I have tried pairing with iOS and then Hands free on my vehicle. Neither works. I tried turning on Bluetooth tethering and started seeing a flicker of recognition on the iphone but no pairing with iOS. The vehicle will not pair. It will pair with a blackberry phone.

Hi @Lekkiman, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this.

Do you have any issues connecting to other devices via bluetooth? Headphones or speakers for example?

It will pair with speakers. It will pair with a blackberry phone. It will not pair with a 2007 Toyota hands free or an iPhone. The blackberry and iPhone will pair with the Toyota hands free. The xperia recognizes the iPhone and vice versa but will not pair. The xperia requires organizes the hands free but won't pair.

Last sentence should read "The xperia recognizes the hands free but won't pair."

If it is pairing with some devices it would indicate there is no fault with the device, it could possibly be a compatibility issue.

Have you ever been able to pair it with those devices? Does it do the same thing in safe mode

I've got the same problem on a 2008 Honda Accord. My previous Xperia phone worked without any problem but my new XA1 is not recognised by the cars' bluetooth system, even though my phone recognises the Honda.

I've spoken to Honda who have advised that 'as the software of the Bluetooth Module can't be changed you will have to hope for a software update for the Phone so that it works with the Module'.

Has anyone any advise if there is such an upgrade?

Hmm, that's a bit tricky. It's not really logistically possible to update a phones firmware to be compatible with third party products, there's too many out there to test.

Our developers do read the forums though, so they will likely see this, but I cannot make any guarantees an update will rectify it.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this is causing you Slightly_frowning_Face

I get the same problem in safe mode so this is the phones problem.

I just "upgraded" to the XA1 (from the Aqua M4) and had the same issue with my 2010 Toyota Avensis. The Aqua M4 has always worked fine from day 1.

The XA1 was able to pair with an old Dell headset but unable to pair with the car. It never got as far as prompting for the PIN code in both cases.

I figured that as it didn't prompt for the PIN with the Dell headset (which uses the PIN 0000) then if I set the car's PIN code to 0000 it might also work. And it does. Once paired, it connects whenever I start the car - as it should.

As I only figured this out today I can't comment on the reliability of the connection over time but I'll report back if I find any issues.

Give it a try.

Possibly there's some coding error in the logic in the XA1 Bluetooth protocol that sends the PIN as 0000 before prompting the user to enter it. Something for Sony's developers to look into perhaps.

I have this problem also, I have a parrot mini kit Neo, it ha Been paired with the xa1 for the past 6 months, all of a sudden it will not connect, sometimes it will say connected but  no connection is possible and most of the time it cannot even find the hands free even though I have cleared all connections and srarted from scratch very annoying all my other devices can find and connect to the parrot
