Hi,
My phone is at 23.4.A.0.546. Since the last update, the setting under Sound and Notification > Silent Mode > Exceptions, when set to "allow exceptions", does not seem to work when the phone goes into a scheduled silent mode.
When the phone does go into the scheduled silent mode, it is completely silent without exceptions despite that setting in the Sound and Notification page. I have to press the volume control and set "allow exceptions" to true every time.
In my opinion, this should be a high priority issue to fix, since it makes the scheduled silent mode unusable for anyone who wants to silence notifications but still let calls through (which I think is probably a lot of people).
Have others encountered this issue, and could Sony please confirm that it's a known issue?
Thanks,
Greg
Thank you, uliwooly,
That thread doesn't seem to be quite what I'm talking about. From what I gather, that is about not being able to set a phone into silent mode, either with the volume key, nor through a setRingerMode method in code.
My issue concerns the "allow exceptions" setting in a scheduled Silent Mode - when the scheduled time arrives, the allow exceptions setting (as set on the Sound and Notification > Silent Mode settings page, last item in the list) is ignored.
Cheers,
Greg
I've the same phone. Silent mode works just fine, except if I select to permit calls only from special contacts. In this case, phone won't ring. If I permit calls from entry Contacts, phone rings for incoming calls from contacts and cuts others. Now I trying to understend if I'm doing somthing wrong... I'm not sure if "special" contacts (as they are caled in exceptions) are simply my prefered contacts, If I should create a special group (all things I tried) or wath other. In any case, nothing I tried until now did work.
Borgo1971,
On your phone, does it honour exceptions in a scheduled silent mode when you set it to allow "calls from Anyone"?
On mine it does not. I haven't tried setting specific contacts and so on.
Thanks,
Greg
Sorry to hear that you have issues with exceptions.
I have forwarded this internally for further investigation and will update you as soon as i have more information.
Thanks for your email with the screen recording. I will respond here when i have more information instead of the email case you have if that's ok?
Thanks, Rickard.
I have also been communicating with May at Xperia Care by e-mail, who simply responded that "unfortunately you need to manually set it to allow exceptions". I would love to know if Sony has an intention to fix the issue in a future software release. Please let us know if you have any insights on that.
All the best,
Greg
