Hi,
My Z3c phone received the Android 5.0.2 update last week and although I have been generally happy with the update, the wi-fi performance has taken a big hit and doesn't seem as reliabile as it was. I have also noticed that connections are dropped and recreated randomly throughout the day even though the device has not moved from the access point. This is particularly true when using application such as Situations and Smart Unlock. The developers of these apps have confirmed that there are problems with the 5.0.2 update and that Google fixed these with v5.1. Do we know when Sony will be releasing this update for the series Z devices?
what if you forget and readd the wifi?
We already discuss this in this thread: /t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/Android-5-0-2-Wi-Fi-Issues/td-p/972391
First full day since full rebuild of phone and have to say, wifi has been rock solid in work today and is much better at home. Apps seem more stable too but I will know more tomorrow as it is usually a day or two after that I get problems. Phone is definitely not performing as slickly as it did on Kitkat but definitely happier with it. Hope some performance upgrades come with next few itterations and really hope we get Android 5.1 !!
Since no one acknowledges an error in this firmware, I am afraid no fix will follow. As for me, I am back on KitKat and happy without WiFi issues and have now previous marvelous battery life.
I'm glad your phone is working properly again. Mine is slightly better than before the rebuild on 5.0.2 but there are definitely issues with Wi-fi and battery is not as good. Certain apps like Three InTouch do not work as well either. Google know of some of these issues and Three have said that Sony Xperia Z phones have issues with their firmware. Companies are never going to admit to it if they can help it as it is not a great advert. Hopefully we will see 5.1 quicker than it took for 5.0.2 to arrive. Also if build 23.1.A.0.740 is iminent, perhaps that will fix some of the bigger issues too.
@smjohns I have one assumption. It's up to you to try it or not. Turn off Google back up in settings. Delete your Google account from the phone. Test your home wi-fi stability. Re-add your Google account back. Don't turn on Google back up in settings. Test further.
