Contacts keeps crashing and some of my contacts are missing.
*Update* Dialer doesn't work either!!! Had to find a stupid contacts and dialer app. Repaired/restored my phone and still!!!! What's the point of having a phone if it can't be used as a phone?!!!!!
For me it's contacts, dialer and SMS. Contacts is crashing. Can't call anyone or use contacts. I'm not getting some text messages and I'm not getting some calls. People are reporting other major problems.
I CANNOT USE MY PHONE! This is a BIG problem sony must fix NOW!!!
Hi @jkrc717,
I am sorry to hear about the issues that you are having.
When an application stops working correctly, I recommend you reset the app. To do this;
Android 5.1.x: Go to Settings > Apps > All > [Tap the problematic app] > Clear Data > Force Stop
Android 6.0.x: Go to Settings > Apps > Options (3 dots) > Show System > [Tap the problematic app] > Force Stop > Storage > Clear Data
After doing this for each of the problem apps, restart your phone and let me know if the issue is still happening.
Tried to make a phone call or use the Contacts and as soon as I start typing numbers I get a message "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped."
I can receive calls but I cannot make them.
Called my phone carrier and they reset their connection with my SIM.
Performed a Master Reset on my Xperia Z5 Premium Dual and still have the same problem.
Is there a way to go back to the older version of Marshmallow?
Any help would be appreciated.
I did this. I also reinstalled/reset/repaired my phone through xperia companion. Nothing has worked. The problem is the update. It obviously has bugs and sony needs to come up with a new update to fix these problems. I can't use my phone as a phone. Which is major. I don't have $500 plus dollars to dish out on a new phone and I shouldn't have to. There are many reporting this problem and I can't understand how sony isn't doing anything about it. Are we supposed to put our lives on hold?
I wrote to them and I get a response thanking me and if I have any other questions and concerns. Like huh?
Can you please try starting your phones in safe mode and see if the issue persists? I also recommend removing your SD cards as part of this test.

Safe mode didn't work. Removing the SD card didn't work. However, removing the sim card did solve the issue. So the problem seems to be with the sim card. I've never had this problem before the update. My sim card isn't corrupted so the problem shouldn't be with my service provider. I also don't understand how the sim card would cause the problem.
Can't use my phone without the sim card. I'm with T-Mobile.
Please let me know if there's a way to fix this.
If it is functioning correctly without the SIM card it is possible that the SIM card is the problem. Is it possible for you to try another SIM card in your phone and see if it works correctly? If your phone is locked to your carrier you will have to use a SIM from that carrier for this test.

I would have to buy a new sim card from my carrier. There aren't any sim cards I can just play with. So spending money on one just to test it is asking for a little much. I've never had this problem before. Everything else works fine. It's just the contacts app that crashes. It's a Z3+ that was never available for any carrrier. So it is unlocked.
The sim card is fine. The update some how caused the problem. The problem is with Sony. I'll have to buy a new sim card just to see if it works. I have no choice and that upsets me because they are the ones responsible for ruining my phone.
What do I do if it still doesn't work?
How can you be certain it is not the SIM card causing the issue without testing it?
If your phone is unlocked then I recommend you ask a friend or family member if they will allow you to insert their SIM card into your phone to test this with as it will not matter what carrier it is with.
Otherwise, I am not sure if this kind of service is available in your country, but you can try taking your phone into your network providers store and see if they have a test SIM that you can use to see if it is still happening, which would save you from having to purchase a new one for this test.
