Headphone problem

I am using a sony xperia z3+ . I used a skull candy headset with the phone for almost an year. However the phone doesn't detect the headset when it's connected anymore. The headset works fine with the laptop and other headsets works well with the phone. Any idea how to fix this issue? thanks!

Have u tried cleaning out the socket. I had the same issue n when i cleaned it out there was so much lint etc in there it wasnt  letting the jack go all way in.
