Hi all,
Yesterday, I unfortunately dropped my Xperia Z2 into the ocean. It sank down to a depth of 8 meters immediately and it took us about 30 minutes to get it back up again. It appeared as if water has gotten into the device, so we put it into rice, hoping it would **bleep** up all liquidity. It also wasn't possible to start it again.
I wondered whether you have any other advice before trying to start the phone again? Is there a way to de-construct it so the rice can reach more parts? Right now I worry that the rice is kind of pointless, as it only reaches the two openings on the side.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Tobi
8 m is too much,I think it will be lost. The pressure there is a little higher than at the sea level. But you could open all the lids covering the ports and let it dry up for about 1-2 days in a warm place.Plus, you have to consider it is salt water.
Thanks for your quick reply. Do you think there's a chance to rescue the photos stored on the device somehow?
Thanks
Were they stored in internal storage or card?
Internal.
Thanks!
If the phone will need reinstalling software, they will be lost. And my guess is that it will need. But lets wait and see.Do not charge it for now,let it dry.
once the phone is dry , connect to laptop using media go and try to retrive pictures stored on device
Thanks so much!
Kept it in rice for 3 days and just tried to turn it on, which didn't work. Then I connected it to my laptop and surprisingly, once I plugged in the USB cable, a red light appeared on top of the phone (it looked like it was charging). Unfortunately, the light disappeared after a few minutes.
Is there any other way to access the internal storage? We took some amazing underwater photos (which I wasn't able to back up with Google+ as I had no connection) and it would be amazing to get them somehow. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks again
Tobi
I am sorry but internal storage is problematic because if the phone does not turn on and you will try a software repair,it will erase the internal memory.Try to charge the phone at a wall socket for about 2 hours and turn it on.
