I have been using my Xperia Pro phone for over a year now, I have an inetrent problem my phone seems to be connected to the internet but can't download stuff except if something is constantly asking for date use is running in the background, I use the internet radio app "Capital FM" to constantly be connected the interent. I'll elaborate the problem because you porbably don't understand what I mean, for instance if i Start sending amessage on "whatsapp" it keeps displaying the clock of sending for a lot of time or even loads facebook pages for a very long time II have a 512 connection which is pretty fast on my pc. I don't know what is this problem, I ahve had it ever since I bought my phone, it seems that I'm only virtually connected to the internt.

Is your phone connect via Wi-Fi when this happens? Same thing if you try via your network provider?

Yes my phone is connected via wif and same thing happens through my network provider..it's very strange that it work as fast when it has a presisitent app running in background. As far as I remember this started happening when I upgraded my software, but that was a year a go and have been dealing with this ever since !

Ok, have you tried to do a repair of the phone software?

Click on this link to get Sony PC companion:

Start PC companion, start "Support Zone", start "Update phone software" and click on "Repair".

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know if you are still having this issue after the repair of the phone software.

I have just done what you said, same problem from start up,while acessing inetnet apps. I will try to elaborate with pictures later today !

For example here I am sending my friend ali a text message, look at the wifi indicator it doesnt have the 2 arrows indicatiing data transmition and the message I'm trying to send can take several hours to be sent until the wifi indicator get the two arrows that will be shown in the photo below:

Only when the indicator has both of these arrows data transmition and fast internet access takes place, the same thing happens throgh 3G I can't explain this and I really need help. I also can't explain when the arrows show up it's something simultaneous and can happen any second, also this can happen through facebook app being very slow or the browser being very slow too.

Yes, that was quite strange. Have you tried other Wi-Fi networks? Same problem?

Regarding your mobile network APN settings:

Try removing the proxy settings on your APN.

Settings > More.. > Mobile network > Access Point Names

Tap your internet account, usually called "[operator] Internet" or similar. Delete everything under Proxy and (Proxy) port.Save and try again.

Now try with your mobile network, same problem?

Yes I have tried many other wifi networks, problem persisits . I have been expermenting with this issue for over a year! Is this a hardware or software malfunction ?

I have done what you said using the mobile network, but it temporarily working fine, because as I said its simultaneous meaning it can be good sometimes with no explaination. I'll keep using the mobile network and restart my phone several time and I'll tell you how it goes. But I really hope I can resolve this issue and not have to buy a new phone !
