PC Companion crashes on my PC ! Why?

When I connect my XPERIA Z to my PC using Windows 7 and open PC companion for file transfer it opens nicely but as soon as the start button is pressed , it crashes and shuts down. What is the problem ,please ?

Is your phone connected in MSC or MTP mode? Can you transfer files using Windows explorer?
