phone switching off when connecting to PC..help??

Everytime I connect my phone to my PC via the USB cable, it launches PC companion, and then connects okay. But within  a few seconds, the phone just switched itself off for no reason. Ive tried it on both my desktop and my laptop with the same results. any ideas anyone please?

You could try to use a different USB cable, if the same thing happens you might try to get in contact with your local Sony Ericsson support center for warranty/repair options.

Have managed to find a work around.... I THINK....

when I connect it up, i get three options message coming up.

first  option is connect phone... THIRD option is charge battery.

I get the problem when I click on the first option...which you would think is the right option. Clicking on this, connects, and then the phone switches off.

BUT I tried clicking the third option... "charge battery"...

, then stroking down the top rail, and I get asked want to "mount"... so I click  " mount"..

and hey presto, the phone shows up on my computer and doesnt switch itself off.

Tried it 3 times and its worked each time.... so fingers crossed.

I thought you can also mount your SD Card with the first option?

No. First option is connect phone.   2nd option is install PC companion ( even though its already installed).  3rd option is charge battery.

So i click on charge battery. phone doesnt switch off.

So then I pull down top rail. On there is the usb option to transfer files etc...so I click that.....then the option to mount comes up...click that...and hey presto...the files and drive show up on the desktop.

its the only way it works for me...so I aint complaining that its an illogical work around to get me where I want to be.

That is an interesting piece of information, thank you for coming back and sharing.  It's always good to have other options to offer users on this forum and the other one that I frequent so I will remember the advice.
