I upgraded my phone last night and tried to restore my data, it started working so i just left it but it seemed to be taking AGES, anyway I decied to just let it carry on overnight but when i checked it again this morning its still nowhere near completing it says contacts are on 98% an text messages on 10% should it be taking this long and how do i speed it up? surely it shouldnt take 12hours, someone help please
This does not sound rite at all.
I believe the upgrade you did is for the Android 2.1?! Maybe you should abort the operation and restore those data again.
I agree you should re-install 2.1 through Update Service and see if that solves it.

thanks for suggestions, tried it but still the same thing but now it gets so far (after taking about 2hours) and just comes up with "error" any other suggestions that might work?
ok try this
1) repair your phone with either PCC or SEUS (update service)
2) Restore little by little
first with settings once thats done, restore apps, once thats done restore contacts, etc. see if that helps
Tried doing what you suggested and it worked for everything except contacts and messages, these two get so far on and then just say "error" anything else i could try? thanks for your help
I've read that some X10 users in Australia are having the same problem, I don't know if that's your case but I suggested this and it worked for them
rooting and/or flashing firmware other than the one offered through PCCompanion or Update Service could violate your warranty (unless is restore to its original firmware)
if you decide to proceed
