Sending SMS not working anymore after update to Marshmallow

Updated yesterday my Z5 compact to Android 6.0 and can't send SMS anymore.

Anyone having the same problem?

Do you get an error? 

settings > more > mobile networks > do you see your network?

Yes, I get  "Could not send"

and also yes, I see my network.

I can receive SMS but not send. My carrier (Swisscom is also checking if this is a Marshmallow 6.0 update issue).

Welcome to the community.

Try resetting the messaging app too, in Settings > Apps > Messaging > Storage > Clear Data > Back > Force Stop. Then restart your phone.

I did the reset of the messaging app but it's still the same. Cannot SEND SMS !!  😞

Always get error "Could not send" .

Check with your network provider if your SMS Service Centre Number is correct.

This we did yesterday already. It's correct.

I can receive SMS but NOT SEND.

Hi,

I have similar problems as described in this thread. I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633, v.6.0.1, Build Number 23.5.A.0.57) and am using Simyo and Telekom as providers. Everyting worked perfectly with SMS sending/receiving on the previous version - sorry, don't have the verson number.

Since the update, I have only just also noticed that I am no longer able to receive SMS through the Simyo provider.

I have tried the following to resolve the issue (as described by this thread)

• restarting in safe mode
• setting/updating the SMSC number manually
• deleting the Messaging settings and cache

Trying "settings > more > mobile networks >" shows the network normally for Telekom, but not for Simyo. When searching for Service Providers, it only shows "Netz". I think in the past it actually showed "Simyo".

Do you have any suggestions on how to deal with this? Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the community.

Are you and @don_carlos able to try another SMS app and see if the issue persists? There's plenty available free on the Google Play Store. I want to test if the app itself is the problem or something deeper with the core software of the phone.
