recently my sony xperia s gets very hot ! (even the screen) even when not in use (phone on). i only on my 3G data.
p.s. i have not rooted my phone.
Can u check what applications runs background and which one takes more battery?
Usually you might have opened some application and closed it, but in background these applications will be keep on running.
Hold and press Home button and remove the listed applications from the list.
This will reduce battery consumption.
