Tethering not working after upgrade to Android 5.0

I am unable to get any of USB, Bluetooth, or Wifi tethering working after the upgrade to 5.0.

I am using a Xperia Z1 C6903 with an HP Envy Dv7 7212nr running Windows 8.1 x64

Since updating my Sony Experia Z1 phone to lollypop, I find I have a problem tethering my phone to my laptop. I receive a message stating that there was a problem whilst tethering although the phone does connect to the computer.
Trying to connect my laptop to the internet, I find that I only have "local access". I have no problem accessing the internet on the phone itself.
Problem only occured after update.

I face this issue whenever I turn on the "Wifi hotspot and tethering" toggle from the quick settings. I indeed get the same warning.

However, I didn't have a problem in connecting my laptop to the internet either, through phone's internet.

What I did is, connected my phone to computer through USB cable, went to phone's settings > more > tethering and portable hotspot > turn on USB tethering ( and turn off any other type ) > enable mobile data.

What is the problem with Xperia Z1 tethering? Is Sony doing anything about it? users keep complaining about tethering issues but nothing happens.
