Text messages

Just updated my Xperia x10 but found that there was no more word count for text messages. The older version use to have the number of characters remaining in a single standard text message (140 characters). Is this just a problem I'm experiencing or is it common? Thanks guys

The stock message app on 2.1 is very basic you would be better using Handcent SMS its free and rated one of the best SMS apps going at the moment

You can go through the settings an customise almost everything to your own liking
