Downloading the latest firmware took forever (3 hours and still at 30%). Then I accidently unplugged the USB cable. Now my phone says "The software update failed" and I am unable to turn it on or connect using The Sony Bridge for Mac. How can I fix this?
You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
Yeah was afraid of that. What a joke. Might sell this thing and go back to iPhone.
Thanks Sony for **bleep** up my data. First the firmware update bricks the phone. Then after a factory reset I find out that the backup I did yesterday was corrupt even though it said it was backed up. There is a folder from yesterday at the time of backup in the Sony Ericsson Bridge for Mac/Backup folder but it is empty. Thanks a lot.
Calm down, Contact your local Xperia Care

keep in mind that this forum is for us, users, to help each other, at least your phone its working now.
My personal data was wiped out *twice*. Don't tell me to calm down. I'm not complaing about users here. I'm complaining about the company which I bought a $550 phone from which can't keep my data. Contact Sony is not going to get my data back. All it might do is put two little notes in their support system which might have a small chance of getting reported to the developers responsible.
"at least your phone its working now" Yeah that's cool for a thirteen year old who wants to play games on their mobile. What kind of response is this to two such critical flaws?
Maybe put all your data on an sd card next time.
There is two types of people
These who don't do backups and these who will do backup 😉
how do you reinstall a sony xperia z3 compakt?
