Unforeseen circumstances: charging problem!

Hello!

I tried browsing the forum but couldn't find the kind of problem I've got.

I just lost the original charger (with the cable) from my Xperia S in a trip so I ordered a new one on eBay (actually right his one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140876048248?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649). It took only two days to deliver it from Germany to Switzerland so I was quite happy this morning.

However, I wasn't happy anymore when I found out that it took almost one hour to charge the phone to 3% battery. Yes, 3 percent. And it was supposed to be a quick charger. After turning the phone on, apparently, it looses more energy than it charges per minute. I'm a bit lost because I have now been trying to charge for longer times but as soon as I turn it on (and see that 1% just changed to 0%) it turns off again.

Well, I'm beginning to doubt whether the charger I bought was actually "genuine". In the eBay listing it says it's the EP851 model but on the charger itself it's EP850.

However, I tried to connect the phone to the usb port with this cable but it doesn't help either.

I hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks!

To start I would try a different cable as even if the cable connected to a Pc doesn't work then that indicates an issue with the cable or phone - If you do try a known working cable and the issue is still there then I would consider that the phone is at fault or as the charger is a standard 5v and the fitting is the same as most phones, you could try it with another phone and if it works then it's your phone, If it doesn't then it's the cable or plug or even both
