xperia z update patch has ruined my phone

I updated yesterday and it's glitchy as heck Trash can stays on screen, screen rotates intermittently and I have lost all capability to tether. This is my home network as well so I'm stuffed for pc Internet and my ps3.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Sorry to hear that you experience problem after you have updated your phone. How did you update your phone?

I suggest that you try to reinstall the phone software using PC Companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/update

In PC Companion, press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phones software > Press the blue link that says "Repair phone".

Before repairing the software in your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to:

Thank you for your generic reply, you obviously did not read the entire comment as you will see that I said I have lost tethering. therefore cannot update my phone via pc again as my phone is my only means of Internet!

Sorry, if you don't have access to any Internet connection other than the phone you can try to make a factory reset. Open settings > backup and reset > reset to factory settings.

Seriously does Sony actually care that their update has totally trashed their customers phones? I've now got no camera, apps, chrome unresponsive, in fact everything is lagging and apparently devices have stopped working. I've done a factory reset that didn't work and don't dare say it's my handset as it was.perfectly fine before the update and my husband is having the same problem with his phone. If I could get rid of the phone I would and get an iPhone!!!

I don't think Sony will push out any update they haven't tested out themself. If the update really breaks the phone it's supposed to update, then you will definately see 1,001 posts about the issue( Ok i may exagerate about about the 1,001 posts but you get my point Nauseated_Face ). And like any update process, including windows, any interruption during the process whether it's on your end, ISP or the internet may potentially fail. That's why it's critical to always backup before each process.

With that said, if your phone do end up 'dead' while updating, try to do a repair instead. But remember to give your phone some time after the update/repair  to settle. Sometime up to 1-2 days for the battery consumption to stabilize.

If you don't have internet acess to 'repair' the phone since it reqires to download the firmware, your only other option is to bring the phone to any Sony Support Centre. Or ask a friend with internet access to help.

I hope you manage to get your issue resolve soon. good luck!

Unfortunately. Sony are just talking crap I've done the factory reset and that didn't work. So I now have two alternatives throw the phone at the wall or spend a queens ransom on getting out of my contract and getting an iPhone. Nice to see that Sony can only the stock answer of do a factory reset how about this Sony throughly test your software BEFORE rolling it out you incompetent idiots

Factory reset only erase the data partition. It does not reinstall the firmware. If any of the files are already corrupted when you update, doing a factory reset does nothing. You need to redownload your firmware and flash your phone again. Or just bring the phone to the service centre. The phone won't fix itself just by ranting on this forum.

Kitkat update to Xperia Z have made my phone useless. Cant remove from charger as you can actually see battery level drop! 60% battalions overnight whilst on standby.
