Yesterday my Z2 suddenly stopped working on an almost full charge. I have tried charging it in various ways, to no effect. I then went to a repair shop where they opened the phone, disconnected and reconnected the battery, which did nothing. They then tried a new battery which also did nothing.
EDIT: I read a post for an identical problem but on an Xperia T which was solved by using Update Service because PC Companion didn't work - however, because Update Service is discontinued I cannot use that fix, it just gives an error message and closes.
Right now the status of the phone is:
Unplugged:
Plugged into wall charger:
Plugged into PC via USB:
While I can access the phone in fastboot mode, it is not able to connect in Flashmode so that it can be repaired by Xperia Companion.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Just tried it, nothing happens unfortunately.
Hi @Billiam1,
I'm really sorry to hear about your phone. Unfortunately what you are describing sounds (to me) related to hardware, there are however a few things that can be tried.
First of all charge your for at least an hour using the original charger connected to a wall socket. After charging your phone, press and hold the power button until you feel the phone vibrating and see if it's booting. I'd also recommend making sure there isn't anything wrong with your charger or USB-cable, an easy way to try this is by charging another device with your charger.
Also make sure the charging port of your device is free from dust and lint. If there is any, gently remove using (for example) compressed air or a soft plastic toothbrush.
Have you tried booting your phone without your SIM- and/or SD-card inserted? If not, is there any change if you try this?
Force the device to restart by pressing and holding down the power button for 120 seconds. Then charge the device until the notification light lights up. This can take up to 30 minutes. Once the light lights up, try to turn on your device.
If the above didn't help my next recommendation is that you try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. Since the phone is meant to be shut down during this entire procedure it might be possible. Should this not be possible I suggest you contact your Local support for information on how to have your device sent to and examined by an authorized service centre.
Please let me know how it goes!
I got the same problem of this !!
But sometimes my Z2 can be opened but it still self-restart every 15-30 mins before it close and stuck in bootloop.
I've already tried software repairing but nothing change
now z2 still restart so what should i do next?
Hi @Vorakan,
Sorry to hear that
Can you try booting your phone without a SIM- or SD-card inserted in your phone, is your phone still rebooting by itself?
Keep me posted!
Hi @Didrik
I tried everything you suggested but it is still unresponsive. I guess I have to send it in for repair.
yes, i did and didn't work
now i can't boot my phone without charging ; (
Sorry for my late reply, I've been out of office for a while.
@Billiam1, In that case I would advice you to have your phone sent in.
@Vorakan, Have you been able to connect a different charger? If there, however, wasn't any change after repairing the software in your phone I would recommend that you have your device sent in to be examined by an authorized service centre.
I understand the inconvenience sending your phone away may cause and I'm sorry about that. Let me know if there is anything else you're wondering about!
Please keep me updated on your case
My z2 got many problem for a while.

I have tried to flashrom, software repair, remove sd card, remove simcard etc.
