Audio adjustments not doing anything

I can't seem to be able to make audio adjustments such as the Equalizer and ClearAudio+ work. They appear to be adjusted - I can move the switches and the sliders, but they do not have any impact to what I am listening to and the sound remains the same no matter what I select. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I think they seem to only work with the stock audio player. I tried them with Neutron and it doesn't do anything as well.

@Struff as mentioned, audio enhancements only work with music players that use stock audio engine. if you're using a third party music player, it's possible that it uses its own equaliser and not Sony EQ.

by the way, just to make sure, you are trying out the settings while using headphones, aren't you? because you'll barely hear any difference when changing the presets while playing music through the phone's speakers, except for the S-Force Front Surround toggle.

So the audio adjustments only work with the stock music player and only using headphones? Is that right? The whole reason I bought this is for the front stereo speakers. If I wanted to use headphones all the time I would have gotten something less expensive through my carrier.

Is this in writing somewhere that I didn't see? I may need to return this phone ASAP.

Thanks.

@Struff you might hear some difference, but it's much less pronounced when using front facing speakers than with headphones. for example, such small speakers will offer barely any bass, so it's not really feasible to make bass boost do anything on them. as I've said, you can try S-Force Front Surround option, it's specially designed for the speakers.

I've been trying that but it does nothing at all.

@Struff not all apps use audio enhancements, and it's on the developer of the app to implement that. try playing some music using the stock Sony Music app and check if you hear any difference there.

I don't download music so I don't have music to play using the stock music player. I pay for the services I mentioned instead.

Is there anything in writing saying that the enhancements only work with the stock player? If there isn't, I can try to get a full refund for this crappy sounding device and go back to my three year old HTC that sounds great with its enhancements. But if there is anything in writing, they'll try to make me pay a restocking fee.
